Trades Specialist (Bridge)- Region 4

A Trades Specialist (Bridge) performs a variety of skilled activities associated with the repair and maintenance of bridges including carpentry, welding, masonry, ironworking, steel fabricating and painting. Trades Specialists (Bridge) also act as working supervisors over bridge repair sub-crews on small bridge repair and maintenance projects such as repairing bridge railings, repairing bridge deck holes and painting bridges. Candidates will need to be OPP certified to help with Snow & Ice during the winter season. Candidates will be required to be included in the department's written respiratory protection program. The position will require that the candidate be a NYSDOT Certified Welder in shielded metal arc welding, vertical position, and unlimited thickness. The NYS Welding Certification will be a continuing requirement for retention of the title. Management reserves the right to consider the operational needs of other crews when selecting a candidate. Management reserves the right to waive the NYS Welding certification. Summer work schedule will be 10 hours day, however during the S&I season shift work may be required. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Salary Range:
From $44354 to $54140 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Four years of full-time experience in a trade related to bridge repair, maintenance and construction under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in a bridge or technical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated; candidates must be One-Person Plowing (OPP) certified to perform Snow & Ice Operations during the winter season; when required to perform work on NYSDOT projects, candidates must possess a NYSDOT Certified Welder in shielded metal arch welding, vertical position and unlimited thickness. Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment. Cannabis use will be tested for during the pre-employment screening process and may be the basis for disqualification for employment or may be a basis for removal from employmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
