9 Quick Apply Full-time 16 hours ago Full Job Description Summary Purpose for the Position To manage the Genesee County Handyman Program and assist in delivering other home repair and rehabilitation programs.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill) Position requires an Associate degree plus two years' experience, or 4
years of relevant training and experience in home remodeling and repair, construction, weatherization, and operation of housing systems.
Must be able to understand the elements of each program.
Must understand building systems and have ability to evaluate problems and make repairs.
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and computer competency including familiarity with MS Office and internet use.
Position Responsibilities Coordinate with the Genesee County Office for the Aging for Handyman Program work orders.
Schedule and conduct home visits to inspect property, determine work scope, procure materials and complete Handyman Program work.
Typical jobs include grab bar and hand railing installation, basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs, window and door repairs and adjustments.
Make referrals and recommendations for work outside the scope of the Handyman Program.
For other PathStone/RHOC home repair programs, conduct inspections, prepare work scopes, work with contractors and vendors and manage project documentation.
Provide hands-on home rehabilitation training to households participating in the Self Help Housing Program.
Maintain full knowledge of about home repair, home energy conservation and building product installation.
Maintain full knowledge of housing rehabilitation program guidelines and procedures.
Handle and install products per manufacturer's specifications, OSHA guidelines and agency policies.
Operate power and manual tools and equipment, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment in safe manner according industry standards, OSHA guidelines and agency policies.
Maintains accurate records of work hours, materials installed in each unit, material inventory records as assigned, and client data for reporting purposes.
Submit reports and documentation as requested.
Presents program information at public events.
Attend work related conferences, seminars and training sessions.
Working Conditions/Environment There is moderate risk of injury or potential exposure to agents such as asbestos, lead based paints, radon or other building related toxins.
Position requires routine evening and weekend hours.
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
Sit - up to 6 hours in a regular workday Stand - 4 - 6 hours in a regular workday Climb - 1 - 2 hours in a regular workday (includes stairways) Lift up to 40 pounds as needed Travel to multiple locations Transportation Requirement A valid New York state driver's license and properly insured vehicle are required to fulfill the responsibilities of this job.
A company van will also be provided for work use.
